How to Edit a Contact

2 min read

Need to correct a frequency, update a location, or add a note to a logged QSO? World Radio League makes it easy to edit contact details directly from your logbook — whether you’re fixing an error or updating data after an activation.

This guide will walk you through how to find and edit an individual QSO from any logbook.

Step 1: Open the Correct Logbook #

  1. Navigate to the Log Contacts section.

  2. Select the logbook that contains the QSO you want to edit.

  3. Locate the QSO in your logbook list.

Step 2: Open Contact Details #

You have two ways to access editing:

  • Click the eye icon to view the contact details, then click “Edit”

  • Or, from the logbook table view, click the pencil (edit) icon directly on the row

Step 3: Edit QSO Fields #

You’ll now be able to update any field in the logging interface.

Common editable fields include:

Field Description
Operating Location Choose from saved locations or set a new one (affects distance calculations)
Radio & Antenna Select the equipment used for that contact
Frequency / Band / Mode Correct or fine-tune frequency details
Power Output Adjust transmit power (e.g., 20W for a G90)
Date & Time Backdate a QSO or fix a logging timestamp
Comments Add notes like “First contact with Antarctica”
Contest Fields Leave blank if not contesting, or adjust exchange info if needed

World Radio League automatically pulls some details (country, grid, state, etc.) from its database — these typically don’t require manual edits unless you need to override them.

Step 4: Save Changes #

Once you’ve made all necessary updates:

  1. Click “Update Contact”

  2. You’ll see the new data reflected immediately in your logbook

The system will also recalculate distance and azimuth if you changed the operating location or frequency.

Example Use Case #

Let’s say you made a mobile QSO but accidentally logged it with your home location:

  • Edit the QSO

  • Change the operating location to your mobile grid

  • Update the frequency, radio, antenna, and power

  • Add a note like “Mobile op from GA”

  • Save the changes

World Radio League will update the QSO details and recalculate the distance and mapping data automatically.

Summary #

Editing a QSO in WRL is simple and fast:

  • Find the QSO in the correct logbook

  • Open and edit the contact

  • Update any relevant fields
