Logging contacts in World Radio League is fast, flexible, and powerful — whether you’re just getting started in amateur radio or you’re an experienced operator looking for a modern logging solution. This guide walks you through how to create logbooks, enter QSOs, use helpful tools like CAT control and spotting, and explore maps and statistics.
Getting Started #
Log In #
Visit worldradioleague.com and log in for free.
From your dashboard, you can:

Create a new logbook

Open the QSO Manager

View and edit your recent QSOs
Creating a New Logbook #

Go to the Logbooks section

Click “New Logbook”

Name your logbook (e.g., “James’ Demo Log”)

Choose a template:

Default WRL Logger (recommended for general use)

All Fields Logger (advanced data entry)

POTA Logger (for Parks on the Air)

(Optional) Add an Activity if you’re activating a park, summit, etc.

Set your Operating Location:

Choose from saved locations or set a custom one

Location data powers map generation and propagation statistics

Logging a Contact #
Inside the logging interface:

Enter the Call Sign

Use the Tab key to move through entry fields

Using the Quick Settings Bar #
Located at the top of the logging interface, the Quick Settings Bar lets you:

Toggle between default WRL, POTA, and All Fields templates
Templates change which fields are visible in the logging form — for example, All Fields gives you access to more advanced data entry.
Advanced Entry Options #

If you’re running a POTA activation, you can even auto-spot to POTA directly from the logger — no need to open POTA.app separately.
Mapping & Statistics #
After logging contacts:

View your QSOs plotted on an interactive map

Click Share Map to generate a downloadable summary image with:

Total number of contacts

These maps are great for sharing on social media or tracking your own progress.
Exporting, Templates, and Settings #
From the logging screen:
