3 min read

World Radio League makes logging POTA (Parks on the Air) activations and hunting contacts simple, seamless, and mobile-friendly. Whether you’re in the field activating a park or at home hunting, WRL provides all the tools you need — including offline logging, built-in spotting, and one-click ADIF exports.

Getting Started with POTA in WRL #

You can use World Radio League for POTA from:

*Your logbooks sync across devices — log in the field, manage from your computer later.

Starting a POTA Activation #

There are two ways to start:

Option 1: Quick Start Button #

  1. From the homepage, click “Start a POTA Activation”

  2. Search by:

    • Park number (e.g., US-0662)

    • Park name

    • Or use “Find My Park” for GPS-based suggestions

  3. (Optional) Set a starting frequency and enable POTA auto-spot

  4. Click “Create Logbook”

Option 2: Use the Activities Map #

  1. Open the Activities Map from the app or web

  2. View nearby parks, summits, and WWFF sites

  3. Click a park > View Details > Create Logbook

That’s it — you’re now ready to start logging as an activator.

Using the Mobile App #

  • Works offline for iOS, MacBooks, and Android

  • Supports:

    • GPS-based park lookup

    • Offline park-to-park logging

    • Syncing when reconnected

Perfect for activators in remote areas without reliable internet.

Logging POTA Contacts #

Once you’re in the logbook, logging is fast and feature-rich:

  1. Enter the call sign (e.g., N4BFR)

  2. Enter frequency (CAT Control supported on desktop)

  3. Add additional details:

    • Mode, Band

    • Signal reports

    • Optional notes

You’ll see details like:

  • Distance

  • Number of previous QSOs

  • User profile data

Each contact is mapped visually and added to your session log.

Park-to-Park Logging #

If the station you’re contacting is in a park:

  • WRL auto-fills their park number for you

  • If they’re in multiple parks, add multiple IDs in the P2P field

  • You can enter these manually or let WRL detect it via spotting

Multiple park IDs? No problem — WRL supports 2fers, 3fers, and beyond.

Built-in Spotting #

World Radio League integrates with both:

  • WRL Spotting Network

  • POTA.app

Features: #

  • View real-time POTA spots in map or grid format

  • Use filters for:

    • Band

    • Mode

    • Country

    • POTA-only

  • Double-click a spot to auto-fill your logger

WRL will even auto-tag Park-to-Park entries when spotting data includes a park number.

  1. In your logbook, enter your:

    • Frequency

    • Band and Mode
