User Guide: Connecting WSJT-X with Your World Radio League Account #
This guide walks you through setting up WSJT-X so that it streams your contacts directly into your World Radio League logbook.
1. Sign Into World Radio League #
-
Open World Radio League and log into your account.
-
Keep this window open while you configure WSJT-X.
2. Open WSJT-X and Preferences #
-
Launch WSJT-X on your computer.
-
Navigate to Settings / Preferences.
-
Connect WSJT-X to your radio.
-
⚠️ Important: WSJT-X should remain the only application connected directly to your radio, unless you are using a virtual port software.
-
3. Copy UDP Server Port #
-
Inside the Reporting tab of WSJT-X, locate the UDP Server Port number.
-
Copy this number — you’ll need it in the next step.
-
Click OK to close preferences.
4. Configure World Radio League CAT Control App #
-
Open the World Radio League CAT Control App.
-
Go into Settings.
-
Under UDP Port, paste the port number you copied from WSJT-X (if different from the default).
-
Choose the World Radio League logbook you want to send contacts to.
-
Click Start Listening.
-
✅ Do not connect the World Radio League Control app to your radio — it should only stream contacts from WSJT-X.
-
-
Leave the app running in the background (you may minimize it).
5. Make and Log Contacts #
-
Operate WSJT-X in your chosen mode (e.g., FT4 on 20m).
-
When you complete a contact, confirm by clicking OK in the WSJT-X logging window.
-
Open your World Radio League Logbooks section.
-
Locate the logbook you selected earlier — your contact will appear there automatically.
6. Understanding Mode Logging #
-
You may notice FT4 contacts logged as MFSK.
-
This is expected:
-
FT4 is a sub-mode of MFSK.
-
Many logging programs (including World Radio League) use MFSK as the universal standard to ensure compatibility.
-
Quick Tips #
-
Always keep WSJT-X as the primary link to your radio, unless using a virtual port software.
-
Run the World Radio League CAT Control app in the background for logging.
-
Double-check UDP port settings if logs are not appearing.
