🐞 User Guide: Reporting a Bug in World Radio League #

Reporting bugs helps our team quickly identify and fix issues so everyone can enjoy a smoother experience. This guide explains how to use the Report a Bug page effectively.

1. Accessing the Bug Report Page #

  • Navigate to the Report a Bug section in the WRL app.

  • The page header will confirm your submission count, e.g., “You have reported 1 bug!”

2. Instructions Overview #

At the top of the page, you’ll find instructions that explain how to write a clear and helpful bug report.

To maximize effectiveness, follow these three key steps:

  1. Add a good description of the bug

    • Be specific about what’s happening.

    • Include details such as what you were trying to do, what went wrong, and any error messages.

  2. Include helpful links (if possible)

    • Add URLs that might help developers trace the issue.

    • Example: link to an affected contact, logbook entry, or integration page.

  3. Record a short video (optional)

    • Use Loom (or another screen recording tool) to show the problem in action.

    • Paste the video link into your bug description.

    • This step is optional but highly encouraged for faster resolution.

3. Differentiating Bugs vs. Feature Requests #

  • Bugs → Problems where something is broken or not working as expected.

  • Feature Requests / Questions → Ideas for improvements or general inquiries.

4. Submitting a Bug Report #

  1. In the Details about the bug text box, type your description.

    • Include reproduction steps (how to trigger the bug).

    • Mention expected behavior vs. what actually happened.

    • Add links or video evidence if available.

  2. Once you’re done, click Submit Bug Report at the bottom.

  3. You’ll see confirmation that your bug has been submitted.

5. Helpful Tips for Faster Resolutions #

  • Keep bug reports clear and concise.

  • Always include steps to reproduce the issue.

  • If the bug happens inconsistently, mention that.

  • Screenshots or videos are extremely helpful.
