Origins of World Radio League
The World Radio League was started by CEO, James Cribbs KN4NEH, and launched the very first version of our app in August 2023.
James KN4NEH is also the founder of Ham Radio Prep, which revolutionized the ham radio licensing industry by bringing best-in-class educational materials and technology to the ham radio space. The focus on web and mobile apps that were easy to use brought in tens of thousands of new hams to the hobby and boosted completion rates.
Bridging the Gap Between New Hams and Experienced Contesters
After successfully running Ham Radio Prep for many years, James noticed a large gap between the students at Ham Radio Prep and the contesting community.
Ham Radio Prep students were overwhelmed with learning how to set up their equipment, starting logging contests, and getting involved. Too many hams simply received their license, and abandoned the hobby. There had to be a better way.
So, in August 2023, World Radio League was launched as an easy to use, web-based logger where entry level hams could log their first contacts with zero software setup required.
WRL quickly grew into POTA functionality, which is the next step on the complexity ladder for new hams, and released a beta version of live contesting.
World Radio League also released a mobile app, and is currently the only ham radio logging mobile app that supports automatically syncing your contacts to the web.

We continue to build WRL as a bridge between getting your license and starting to operate and get on the air, which we believe is crucial to the future success of our industry as a whole.
